Missionary Ministry
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
The Missionary Ministry seeks to share the love of Christ and His Word, assisting members, the neighborhood, the city and the world who are hurting and in need. We supply food, using the SHARE program and the National Council of Church’s food bank and clothes for many in need. Each 5th Saturday, we serve dinner at Shepherd Cove Shelter and enjoy fellowship with the clients.
In 1999 the door was opened for two of our missionaries to travel to Africa with Shalom Outreach. The fire of evangelism fueled by a love for our African brothers and sisters has resulted in missionaries having gone to Uganda and/or South Africa each year since. Shalom’s yearly Mission Conference fans the fires of evangelism and we have attended since 2000.
We have taken the ‘mobile kitchen’ to the homeless on the streets of Washington, DC on many winter Saturday’s providing them with warm food, toiletries, and warm clothing items. Kind words and loving spirits have opened the door for sharing God’s word to many far and near.
Activities include Clothes Closets to provide clothes for the needy, SHARE Food Bank Program (Purchase $40 worth of groceries for just $18.00 and two (2) hours of community service), Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets to the needy.
